Thank you to Cat’s Corner Studio in Montreal for help in creating this Code of Conduct.
Great Lakes Shag Escape aims to create a safer space for everyone, both at the event and in the entire shag and swing dance community. We are part of a wonderful community of people who connect through a shared love of swing music and dance. However, we recognize that these social dances exist within broader societal contexts and that issue of power, privilege, and oppression also exist within our community.
We Welcome You
Great Lakes Shag Escape is open to everyone regardless of sex, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, physical appearance, ability, age or any other aspect of identity.
Be Respectful
We ask that you show respect to every member of the community and visitors, no matter their skill level or involvement in the community.
We Care
We understand that you may offend someone unintentionally, but if we hear about abusive, aggressive, or violent behaviors, or unwanted contact or unwanted acts of a sexual nature, you will be removed from the event without refund. You are responsible for your behavior.
